Why take this course?

Ideal for those who have completed an introductory course or have basic watercolour knowledge, this course will help you build confidence, refine your style, and experiment creatively.

What you will experience

Each session will focus on expanding technical ability and artistic expression through exercises in colour, tone, textures, composition, and controlled use of transparent and thicker watercolour and Gouache. You will explore subjects such as sea-landscape, still life, observed building, imaged structures, storytelling, figures and abstract-atmospheric effects in your picture-making with an emphasis on developing your own visual language.

Techniques covered will include layering, working wet or dry, exploring medium, using equipment, and incorporating mixed media elements. Tutor demonstrations, peer discussion, and feedback will support your progress and encourage a more expressive approach to watercolour painting.

By the end of the course, you will have a deeper understanding of watercolour as a medium, increased technical fluency, and a stronger sense of creative direction. You will also leave with a collection of finished paintings and the confidence to continue developing your practice independently.
